  • Joe Silvaggio died on September 20, 2023. He lived in Plymouth Meeting and was a mechanical engineer employed by the Siemens Energy Group for 56 years. He was also a nature lover and outdoor enthusiast. See his complete obituary.

  • Bill Blodgett died on August 8, 2023 after complications from a stroke. He was a businessman, entrepreneur, and worldwide sailor, circumnavigating the globe on his yacht with his former wife Alicia (now deceased). He was also a nationally competitive tennis player, fine golfer, enthusiastic skier and scuba diver, and avid pilot. See his complete obituary.

  • Jock Deasey died on February 23, 2023. No obituary was published, only a death notice.

  • George Hemphill died on December 11, 2021. He was survived by his wife Donna and his daughters Sara and Alison Hemphill.

  • Joe Loughran died on September 15, 2021. He was a graduate of Rutgers University, majoring in Economics. He worked for his father's company, Airline Hydraulics, for 55 years, ending his tenure as Chairman of the Board. See his complete obituary.

  • Richie Rulon died on October 25, 2019. He was a graduate of Brown University and University of Pennsylvania Law School. He practiced immigration law for over 30 years as a partner at Dechert, Price and Rhoads and later as a founding partner of the Klasko immigration law firm.See his complete obituary.

  • Fred Schoen died on June 12, 2019. He was a graduate of Davidson College and The Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania). After graduate school, he served as an officer in the United States Army from 1966 through 1968. His career was with the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, followed by business management with the Brenlin Group, See his complete obituary.

  • Chuck Harmon died on February 11, 2019, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He graduated from Syracuse University and, after a brief career in the AFL, took a job at the Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Facility in Syracuse, where he stayed for 40 years before retiring as Superintendent.   • Tom Wriggins died on June 4, 2018 at his home in Nobleboro, ME. He attended Cornell and Nathaniel Hawthorne College, and graduated from University of New Hampshire (Whittemore School of Business) and St. Johns University Law School. His career was as a tax lawyer before retiring to Maine in 2007. See his complete obituary.

  • Al Swenson died on April 11, 2018, apparently of cancer. He graduated from Princeton, where he was an All-Ivy football player. He then attended the Wharton School of Business. He spent his career in the car business, following in the footsteps of his father. See his complete obituary.

  • Dick Berlinger died on November 14, 2015. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and from Temple Law School. He was a life-long lawyer and avid sailor. In addition to his wife, Nora, Dick is survived by his son, Richard Eric Berlinger. See his complete obituary.

  • Tony Duffy died on April 30, 2015 at the age of 72 after an extended illness. He was living in Southampton, PA and was married to Helene Delaney Duffy and had three children: Brian J., Timothy G., and Andrew (all PC graduates). He also had 9 grandchildren. He had been the owner of the Bull Tavern in Croyden, PA.

  • George McVaugh died on August 26, 2014. He was married to Nancy (Nan) McVaugh for 47 years. George had one stepson, Scott Simmons, whom he raised. George and Nan were teachers for 20 years, George in math, Nan in German.

  • Doug McDowell died on October 24, 2012 at his home in Gladstone, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, Doug lived in Meadowbrook and Blue Bell before moving to Gladstone in 1974. Doug spent 40 years as a successful municipal bond salesman, working for various firms in New York City and New Jersey before retiring in 2009.

  • Steve Brooks was hospitalized just before our 50th Reunion and died one month later on June 3, 2010 (see his obituary and a remembrance from the website of The Philadelphia Center.).

  • Jack Levine died of cancer at age 64 after a distinguished career as an activist lawyer fighting for the underdog (see Jack's obituary).

  • Joel Sunderman graduated from Haverford College but died at age 24 when he fell under a subway train in Berlin while rushing to the opera (according to his mother, as reported by Jock Deasey).

  • Bert Linton died in 2009
    Click here to see his obituary. He was a distinguished educator and an extraordinary golf coach. His memorial service was held during our 50th reunion. The program pictured at right shows him imparting knowledge to the Class of 1960.
     
  • Ernest Wells died in 2013
    Ernest passed away on New Year's Day, 2013. He had been PC Music Director from 1958 to 1978, and attended our 50th reunion. See his page on this site.
     
  • Fritz Kempner died in 2013
    Fritz passed away on January 7, 2013 at the age of 91. He had been foreign language teacher at Penn Charter from 1953 to 1986, and attended our 50th reunion. See his page on this site.

  • Steve Edgerton died in 2014
    Steve passed away on December 16, 2014, at the age of 86. He was a chemistry teacher at Penn Charter for over 15 years, and attended our 50th reunion. See his obituary.

    Ted passed away on July 2, 2016, at the age of 92. At Penn Charter he headed the English Department and started the drama program. He attended our 50th reunion. See his obituary.
